2020 in Review

OF THIS WE ARE CERTAIN

In a year wrapped with uncertainties and constant change, we found ourselves (like many of you) making plans and changing plans. We had to close our thrift store for 12 weeks, cancel our spring fundraiser, and reschedule our Worth It program, while still making sure our safe house remained operational. During this time, we took on new challenges and developed creative ways to engage people with our mission.

In the midst of all these uncertainties, your support remained strong. You helped sew masks, you walked miles to raise awareness about human trafficking, and you tuned in to not only watch A Worthwhile Telethon, but to generously donate as well. You see the value in the women we serve and the work we are doing to help survivors; of this we are certain.

As we wrap up the year, we have a final request for funding that will allow our community empowerment program, Worth It, to be offered virtually. With your donations we can help even more women find restoration and support while meeting them right where they are at!

Unpacking the Past Year

Despite the challenges of 2020, our safe house, The Well, remained operational offering housing and services focused on meeting each woman's unique personal goals. We celebrated graduations and many personal milestones.

Additionally, we continued to offer employment to survivors through our thrift store, and relaunched Worth It this October.

Here are a few other highlights from 2020:

A Worthwhile Telethon

Our biggest undertaking of the year was planning a telethon fundraiser that was live streamed across the country. Our celebrity hosts took us through an evening of live music, special guests, interviews, program updates, and fun giving challenges. We also had the privilege of hearing from a recent graduate from The Well about the impact our program made in her life. With your help, we were able to raise over $158,000 to support survivors of trafficking! You made this telethon truly worthwhile.

ACT Challenge

This summer we launched a national awareness campaign that people of all ages and abilities could join in. We asked people to walk, run, or bike and share their miles by posting on social media with #actworthwhile. For each mile recorded, amazing sponsoring businesses donated $1! Your activity helped us raise over $21,000 and bring awareness to thousands about the issue of modern day slavery.

10,000 Masks

We partnered with 360Care to provide 10,000 masks for their healthcare workers. We couldn't work with our India team to produce these, so we turned to our volunteers and American Safety Clothing to make it happen! Fulfilling this order helped two groups of people: those serving on the front line during the pandemic, and local survivors, as income from the order went directly to funding our restorative programs.

The Gift of Restoration

HELP US MEET OUR YEAR END GOAL OF $40,000

This January we will launch a pilot version of our new Virtual Worth It program. Worth It, normally offered as an in-person only program, brings the tools and resources that we provide at The Well into a classroom setting so women who have experienced sexual exploitation can make meaningful relationships and begin healing from past trauma. By offering Worth It on a virtual platform, we can reach and connect with survivors from around the country.

To offer this program virtually, we need to raise an additional $40,000. These funds will cover the classroom materials, curriculum, staff to oversee the program, and help us support the host sites with the technology they need to offer the virtual program. By giving today, you are showing the women we serve that you value and care for them.
